Label Genie — Privacy & Data Protection

Last updated: 2026-07-28

Label Genie designs product labels and prints them from Shopify admin. This policy describes exactly what data the app processes, why, and how it is protected.

What we deliberately do not collect

Data minimisation and use limitation

We process the minimum needed for the features above and use it for nothing else. Data is never sold, rented, shared for advertising, or used for automated decision-making about people.

Where data is processed

Label Genie is operated from the United States, and data is stored and processed there. If you are in the EEA or UK, this means your data is transferred outside your region; we rely on standard contractual clauses for that transfer, and the details are set out in our Data Processing Addendum.

Storage, security, and retention

We describe our security controls in terms of what they protect rather than how they are built. Merchants who need implementation detail for a security review can request it — we would rather answer a named merchant than publish a blueprint.

Uninstalling, and deletion

Uninstalling does not immediately delete your designs. It stops the app acting on your behalf: open print jobs are cancelled, our access to your store ends, and our access to your printing account is revoked so this app stops being billed for it. The printing account itself stays yours, untouched. Your templates and artwork are kept for a short window so that uninstalling and reinstalling — the most common troubleshooting step there is — does not destroy your work.

Shopify then sends a redaction request about 48 hours later, and at that point everything belonging to your store is erased: designs, version history, artwork, label stock, calibration, print history, settings, usage counts, and printing credentials. If you would like your data erased sooner than that, contact us and we will do it.

Service providers

We use a small number of service providers to run Label Genie — to host the application, store its data, and deliver print jobs to your printer. They process data only to provide those services to us, under contract, and never for their own purposes. If you need the specific providers named — for a security review, or for your own privacy notice — contact us and we will tell you.

PrintNode is named rather than left to a category, because you hold that account yourself and sign into it. It is the service that carries a print job from us to the printer on your counter. It receives the label to be printed and your printer’s details; it does not receive your catalog or your designs.

Companion apps

Label Genie is one of three apps by the same developer, and they are designed to work together. Each works on its own, and Label Genie needs neither of the others.
